Antiques, artwork, electronics, glassware — these are the items that cause the most anxiety on move day. Here is exactly how our team packs them to arrive in perfect condition.
Glassware and Crockery
Wrap each piece individually in packing paper. Place a layer of crumpled paper at the bottom of the box. Pack plates vertically (on their edge) — they are stronger this way. Never stack flat.
Electronics
Original boxes are ideal. If unavailable, wrap in anti-static bubble wrap and pack tightly so nothing moves. Remove batteries. Carry laptops and tablets personally — never in the truck.
Artwork and Mirrors
Use mirror boxes (telescopic boxes that adjust to size). Place a layer of foam on the glass surface, then bubble wrap, then box. Never place anything on top of artwork in the truck.
Antiques and Collectibles
Wrap in acid-free tissue paper first (to prevent chemical reaction with packing materials), then bubble wrap, then a tight-fitting box. Mark the box FRAGILE on all six sides.
Large Furniture
Disassemble what you can. Wrap glass table tops separately. Use furniture blankets on wooden surfaces to prevent scratches. Secure drawers with plastic wrap — do not tape directly to wood.
